CMU blocks are becoming more and more popluar as a substitute for standard wood-framed exterios walling. They may cost more, but both contractors and homeowners are attracted to the heat-retention, durability, and strength of these blocks. Insulation for these blocks are foamed or pressed into the hollow centers, or applied as a stiff board to the surface in order to improve heat flow resistance.
