Does your basement tend flood in the winter? Do you live in a region where thunderstorms or brownouts knock your power out regularly? Perhaps an independantly powered sump pump would serve you some good. One popular type runs off of a rechargeable 12 vold battery. Another kind hooks up to your house water system and runs off of water pressure. This may seem a bit extreme, but a backup pump could give you some peace of mind, especially if you have new flooring put down or are out of town frequently.
